Protecting Our Community
At Surfer, we care deeply about our community’s trust. Recently, we’ve been made aware of third parties pretending to represent Surfer in conversations about small freelance jobs.
We want to be absolutely clear: these offers do not come from us. Surfer never asks for money during any step of the hiring process.
How to recognize a real opportunity from Surfer
- All communication comes from official
@surferseo.com
email addresses. - We never ask candidates for payment of any kind.
- You’ll find open roles listed only on our official Careers page.
What to do if you’re contacted
- Do not engage or send any money.
- Report the message directly in WhatsApp (open the message → tap the contact’s name → scroll down and select Report Contact).
- If you’re ever unsure, ask us directly at [email protected] or verify by checking our official Careers page.
Steps We’ve Taken to Protect Our Community
We’re actively working to shut down these activities and protect our users.
Here are the steps we’ve already taken:
- Filed a report with Microsoft Security Response Center via their online form.
- Contacted the Microsoft Azure Safeguards Team via email.
- Reported infringing content to Google through the “Report Content On Google” form.
- Submitted cases to Google Safe Browsing via their online form.
- Reached out to the Chinese hosting company (sent two emails, including a Chinese-only version).
- Contacted the National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CERT China).
- Reported fraudulent websites to hosting providers including dnspod.com and gname.com.
- We are also working on filing reports to the public authorities in the applicable jurisdictions.
A Final Note
While we do our best to protect the community, the most important step is protecting yourself. Always be cautious with unexpected messages and job offers.
If you come across a suspicious case, please report it to WhatsApp and also let us know directly at [email protected].
By working together, we can stop it faster and keep our community safe.
