Content Editor outlines now use the full brand, AI, and SEO context. They’re shorter, more natural, citation-ready, and structured like top-ranking articles — so you can use them as real content briefs right away.

If you’ve ever had to spend thirty minutes rewriting a generic AI outline before sending it to a writer, this update is for you.

We’ve reworked how outlines are generated in Content Editor. They now use the full context of your project to produce outlines that sound human — and function as real, ready-to-use content briefs.

How it works

Smarter outlines are powered by the same systems that already guide your content — now applied before writing starts:

  • Brand Knowledge, Tone of Voice, and Custom Knowledge, so every section aligns with your company’s identity from the first header.
  • LLM answers and AI Search context, to surface the exact questions, facts, and angles that increase the chances of being cited in AI answers.
  • NLP and entities, to generate citation-friendly headers (for example, “What is X” instead of a vague “Introduction”).
  • Optimization rules like word count, top-performing competitor layouts, and other ranking signals.

Instead of generic section dumps, you get an outline aligned with who you are, what you’re writing, and what search engines and AI models actually expect to see.

Why it matters

Here’s what changes immediately:

  • Shorter, more focused outlines that don’t need trimming.
  • More relevant bullet points, especially in introductions and summaries.
  • Natural, citation-friendly phrasing throughout the structure.
  • Clear H1–H4 hierarchy that mirrors how real articles are written.
  • Layouts that closely reflect top-ranking content, not generic blog templates.

The result?

An outline you can hand straight to a writer — or to Surfy — without attaching a page of clarifying comments.

Less cleanup. Better briefs. Faster publishing.
